My Netbook Reflections 2013

This year I have found using my netbook to be successful. I have enjoyed using my netbook because it is much easier to do my work on a document. It’s also easier for my teacher to check my work. Instead of drawing and colouring inside my exercises book, I can put pictures on my document, change the font and also I can change the colour of my font.

The barriers in using my netbook are having to wait all the time when my internet is too slow, and that’s why I couldn’t get onto some websites for example Popplet, Maths Whizz, Sumdog and also Studyladder. I don’t like being the last one to get onto the websites when my internet is very slow.

The interesting thing about my netbook is that I can  go on different websites like Math Whizz, Sumdog, Studyladder and Popplet. We can also do our reading on our netbook instead of printing out worksheet to write on.

My Procedure on How to Make Traffic Light Jelly

How to make Traffic Light Jelly

Ingredients / Equipment

~ 2 packets of green jelly crystals.
~ 2 packets of orange jelly crystals.
~ 2 cups of hot water for each packets.
~ 2 cups of ice
~ Wooden spoon
~ Plastic cup
~ Bowl
~ Kettle
~ Refrigerator
~ Tablespoon

Method :

1. Wash your hands.

2. Pour the water into the kettle.

3. Boil the water.

4. Pour the green jelly crystals into the bowl.

5. Pour 2 cups of hot water and ice into the bowl.

6. Stir the green jelly crystals with a wooden spoon until it dissolves.

7. Use your tablespoon to pour carefully into the plastic cups 6 times.

8. Set it in the refrigerator for 10 - 15 minutes.

9. Grab the plastic cups out of the refrigerator.

10. Pour the orange jelly crystals into the bowl.

11. Pour 2 cups of hot water and ice into the bowl.

12. Stir the orange jelly crystals with a wooden spoon until it dissolves.

13. Use your tablespoon to carefully pour into the plastic cups 6 times.

14. Set it in the refrigerator for 10 - 15 minutes.

15. Grab the plastic cups out of the refrigerator.

16. Pour the red jelly crystals into the bowls.

17. Pour 2 cups of hot water and ice into the bowl.

18. Stir the red jelly crystals with a wooden spoon until it dissolves.

19. Use your tablespoon to carefully pour the red jelly into the plastic cups.

20. Set the plastic cups in the refrigerator for 10 - 15 minutes.

The Broken Car

One hot day, there was a family on a holiday. The mother’s name was Taylor and the father’s name was Scott. They both had wonderful children. Their names were Lilo and Bling. They had a pet dog named Stitch, he was a big dog. Stitch was a K-9 dog. Lilo was the smart one and Bling, well he was the strong one and the oldest one in the family. Bling was seventeen years old and Lilo was only fifteen years old.

Once they started to pack up for the picnic Scott said
” Go to the toilet before you get in the car. “ They went down the driveway and headed off to Tepu Bay. When they were halfway there, their car started to break down. Lilo said
” Dad why did we stop? “ Dad replied” That’s because of the car breaking down Lilo. “ Scott took off his seatbelt and went outside and checked the engine. He grabbed his cell phone to call one of his friends and his cell phone said” No signal. “ Taylor said
” Scott, is the engine ready to go? “ ” No, it is not ready to go! “ Scott said desperately.

Scott told Bling to help him push the car while Taylor steered the wheel to get off the road. Suddenly a truck pulled up and the fat driver got out. Scott asked if he could help tow the car back home. The driver said in a deep voice” Yeah, sure I can help. “ So the fat man got a rope that had a hook at the end and hooked it on the front of the car. They all went back home, but they still had their picnic in the backyard. Taylor said in a thankful way to the driver,
” Would you like to stay for the picnic? “
” Sure, I would like to stay, thank you “ said the fat man thoughtfully. They all had a lovely day in the back yard outside.

1. Are you pleased with your abstract painting? why / why not?

Yes I am pleased with my art because of the colours I have chosen and mixed.

2. What did you find easy when you created your abstract painting?

I found erasing the grid was easy.

3. What part did you find tricky when you were creating your abstract painting? -think about painting, ruling it up etc.

I found painting in between the lines tricky.

4. Who / What helped you when you were painting?

Miss Paton and Tyler helped me while I was painting.

5. What would you do differently next time? Think about: colours, painting, ruling of grid, etc.

The thing that I will do differently is painting in between the lines.


6. What frustrated you when you created your abstract painting?

The thing that frustrated me was when there was a purple blob on the green.

My Narrative

Once upon a time in a haunted Island named Cheeky Face, there were two Soldiers named B.Carmine and A.Carmine. They works for the Cogs. They were both brothers and they were searching the Island to check if it was haunted. When they were in  the middle of the Island they saw monsters that were called Locusts that came from the underground. The Locust spotted them and started to shoot at them, when B. Carmine heard them firing. He shouted out to A.Carmine “Take cover, take cover!” They started to fire towards them.

Soon they found out that they were no match for them, so they called Marcus, Baird, Cole and Dom and that was their squad. They got dropped off at the edge of the Island of Cheeky Face and was forced to go on foot because of the battle that B. Carmine and A. Carmine is having. When Marcus and the squad were walking they saw these little creatures named wretches. They were well known for eating humans. Marcus and the squad fought the wretches by hitting them with their gun. The wretches died. When Marcus and the squad reached B. Carmine and A. Carmine they all fired at the locust back into the locust hole. They defeated them but there was just one problem. There were about one million of the locusts underground.

When B. Carmine and A. Carmine met Marcus and the squad, they went underground where all the locusts lived. They saw locusts all over the place. They had to keep quiet and to take cover just incase the locusts saw them. Their mission was to go to the middle where all the locusts lived. They had to put an explosive in there to kill all the locusts, wretches, ravens and the boomers. They had to kill all the locusts that got in their way. They were 120 kilometres away from the middle. They saw a tank near them so they ran to it but it didn’t work. Marcus called Baird because he was an expert at this. Baird said “It will take about two minutes, cover me.”

The locusts heard the noise and ran like the wind to Baird and started firing at Baird. The bullets were like fireballs shooting from a volcano. B. Carmine saw them. He started firing at the locusts and then everybody started firing at the locusts but, there were too many locusts to handle. Then Marcus said “ Baird, hurry up!”. Then a few seconds he finished and cried out “Everybody in, it’s all ready!”. They hurried and ran over them like nothing was underneath. After a few metres they saw a nasty locust that was big and humongous. Marcus the leader and the squad were in the tank. They were like little ants to this locust that was called brusukors. A few seconds............. BANG! BOOM! Cole shot the brusukors like it was a big shooting target. Then the brusukors fell down and made a huge hole. Baird drove the tank around the hole and went along. Finally we’re in the middle, “Woooooh! It stinks in here, it smells like your socks!” growled Cole to Baird. They were arguing. Then BANG! One of the locust named Sniper shot at the tank and then it exploded like a volcano.

Then Dom quickly plotted the bomb that could kill the locusts on a rock and shouted  “Everybody look at the hole!”. So they ran to the hole and quickly jumped out. BOOM! It killed all the locusts underneath the ground. B. Carmine was crying because his brother died where all the locusts got killed.

Two Years Later............

After the soldiers checked the Island it was officially secured. They started building new motels, and hotels. They turned them into a place where happy families could go on holiday. When Marcus and the squad returned their captain named Hoffman gave them each a medal for bravery and honour.

The Three Little Pigs

Once upon a time there were three little pigs. The pigs mother said ”You are too old to be living with me, go and find a new home to live in.“ So they went off looking for a new home to live in. The first little pig built his house out straws, the second little pig built his house out of sticks, and the third little pig built his house out of bricks, and of course bricks take a lot of time to build.

The scary evil wolf jumped out and saw the first little pig house. The scary evil wolf sneaked over there and said ”Little pig little pig let me in.“ ”No no no!“ Said the little pig.”Then I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your house in.“ So he did, while the scary evil wolf blowing his house in. The first little pig went to the second little pig house.

The evil wolf found out that the first little pig escaped from him. The evil wolf found another house that was made out of sticks and it was the second little pig. The evil wolf looked into the window and saw the first little pig inside with the other pig. Then the evil wolf said”Little pigs little pigs let me in. “ ”No no no! “ Said the little pigs.” Then I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your house in. “ So he did, and then the two little pigs escaped to the third little pig house.

When the two little pigs arrived to the third little pig house, the evil wolf came and saw the two little pigs that had escaped from him. He peeked into the window and saw the three little pigs and slowly licked his lips and said looks like I’m having dinner tonight.” Little pigs little pigs let me in! “ Said the evil wolf. ” No no no. “ Said the three little pigs. ”Then I’ll puff and I’ll huff and I’ll blow your house in. “ Said the evil wolf.

So he did, but he kept blowing and blowing but he could not blow his house down. The evil wolf think and think so he said I’ll climbed up the roof and climb down the chimney. Just before the evil wolf came down, they put  a pot on top of the fire and took off the lid then, SPLASH! The evil wolf struct into the pot like a lightning bolt and the three little pigs close the lid and ate the evil wolf for dinner.

I work out my 5x tables like if it was a odd the answer is always end with a 5 but if it is a even number it ends with 0.

I work out my ox table because the answer always end with 0.

5. 6 Times Table

I work out my 6x table by 5 x plus.

For example

I work out my 9x tables by 10 x minus the number.

Break up #’s into times tables I know.

I work out my 12 Times Table by 10x plus double the number.

For example

12 x 7 = 10 x plus double the number = 84

12 x 624 = 10 x plus double the number = 7488

8.           11 Times Table

I work out my 11x table greater than 10. by multipling by 10 and then adding the number to it.

E.g. 11 x 11 = 11x ten plus add 11

=110 + 11

=121

11x13 =10 x13 (130) +13 = 143

11x14= 140+14=154

My Art on Space

 This is my art work on space. As you can see it is Saturn.Saturn is the 2nd biggest planet. I had learn to  put my artwork alive. This is my art on Saturn. I love the yellow rings around Saturn because the yellow reminds me of the great time I had and the happy things. I like the red on my back round because it also reminds me of the blood that people died in trying to reach  the moon. The rockets reminds me of Neil Armstrong that made it to the moon.

Hello, Miss Paton.

Can you believe that it has been two weeks since you left. How has your trip been? We’re having a great time with Mr. Blackmore and we have done so much work.

We have learnt new things. I have completed my space timeline, and completed my  art with the theme space. Right now I am going to finish my report on Neil Armstrong.

I had a soccer tournament last week. In the soccer tournament I was the goalie I saved heaps of goals, but Teagan scored three goals and Kifi scored four goals. After all the games we were all exhausted. My team didn’t made it to the final, but my team came 8th place. The under tens came 5th place. The year sevens made us proud by winning equal with Glen Innes Intermediate.

China Medal Winning Sports

Hi this is my graph on the Chinese team about their winning sport. China won most gold on Diving with the total of 6. Their least sport were wrestling only with the total of 1 Silver. I think they won the most medals in Diving is that they train very hard. I think they did very well in the Olympics and I think they deserve coming second place.

2012 Olympic Medal Tally Graph

Hi, this is my graph on the Olympics and how much the country won. The United States of America won the most medals with a total of 104. They have won 46 Gold, 29 Silvers and 29 Bronze and made it first place. I think the USA won more medals because they have a larger number of athletes participating at the Olympics. The population of America is 311,591,917 that's why they have lots of athletes. China came second place with a total of 88 medals. They have 38 Golds, 27 Silvers and 23 Bronze. They are just like the Americans because they have a larger population of people that were at the Olympics. China's population is 1,344,130,000. Australia came tenth place and won more Gold medals than New Zealand. The Australian athletes were great at swimming because they have a warm climate. New Zealand came fifteenth and was great at rowing because New Zealand has lots of Harbours, Rivers and Lakes.

Valerie Adams Introduction Valerie Adams is a famous New Zealand Shot putter. She has broken many world records and won lots of gold medals. Valerie Adams was born on 6th of October 1984 in Rotorua, New Zealand. Her parents names are Lilika Ngauama and Sydney Adams. Lilika was a Tongan and Sydney was English born. Valerie Adams has several brothers and they are all above 7ft tall and one of them became a basketball player.She was married in 2004 to Bertrand Vili, a discus thrower from New Caledonia, but they were divorced in 2010. She belonged to the church of Jesus Christ and the Latter-Day Saints. Valerie Adams went to a high school in Mangere. Her P.E. teacher noticed that she had strong forearms when she was thirteen. She was a great basketball player. When she was 15 years old her mother passed away before she won her first medal but when she won her first medal, she looked up into the sky and it reminded her how her mother really inspired her. She broke the world record for shot put in bare feet in the Junior Champions. She won a gold medal at the 2006 Commonwealth Games and at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. In Jamaica she threw a shot put 17.73m. She won Silver at 2002 Commonwealth Games. At the Melbourne Games she threw the shot put 19.66m. At the Beijing Games she threw the shot put 20.50m. Her first coach was Kirsten Hellier. She was a well known javelin thrower. They met in 1998 and were together for 11 years. Her second coach was Didier Poppe. He was fired. In 2010 Jean Pierre Egger became her third coach and she has done very well under him. I really hope that Valerie Adams can work hard and make us proud and win gold at the 2012 Olympics.

My Jean Batten Report ~ Tevita

Jean Batten Report Introduction Jean Batten was a famous aviator that broke world records. Jean Batten was born in Rotorua, New Zealand on the 15th September 1909. Jean’ s mother was an actress while her father was a dentist. She was a pianist but thought playing the piano wasn’t right for her. She sold her piano to get her pilot's license. She borrowed 400 pounds from Victor Dore’e so she could buy her first aeroplane. She crashed her first plane and asked for more money but he said no but the oil company bought her one instead. One of her achievements was from England to New Zealand. In 1934 she flew from England to Australia in a time of 14 days, 22 hours and 30 minutes. In 1935 Jean Batten sold her Gypsy Moth and bought a Percival Gull Monoplane. In 1935 she flew from England to Brazil in a time of 61 hours and 40 minutes. While she was flying she found out that her fiance died and after a while she met a man who was a pilot too. There was a war that was happening and all of the soldiers were trying to shoot him but then he was captured by a bomb. Jean was very sad and upset over losing her fiance. She decided to have a holiday in Marjorca Spain. While she was taking a walk a dog jumped out and bit her leg. After a while it got infected and she suddenly died in her bed in a hotel in November 22 1982 . Her parents found out that she died five years later. Jean Batten broke many world records and has put New Zealand on the world map.

Yes, because it turned out how I wanted it to be.

2. What did you find easy when you made your Hot Air Balloon?
I found painting very easy for me.

3. What part did you find tricky when you made your Hot Air Balloon?
I found gluing the ribbon onto the balloon tricky.

4. Who / What helped you when you made your Hot Air Balloon?
Tyler, Jacob, Teagan and Miss Paton helped me.

5. What would you do differently next time? Think about: Painting, Smoothing, Gluing of ribbon, Glittering and Time Management.
I think smoothing my balloon down is what I need to do differently.
